Breakfast Smoothie

Do you know the feeling when you’re really not in the mood for anything for breakfast, but you know you have to eat something? Well I had that feeling today; I looked in the fridge and everything looked gross. However I found a bunch of different recipes for smoothies that all seemed really good, so I decided to try a new one.

It actually turned out really well, it was kind of like a three course meal. The first taste was blueberry, although that might just be my brain jumping to that conclusion because of the blue color. The second flavor that hit you was unquestionably banana, however when you swallowed it the aftertaste was nutty. Like I said; a three course meal!

Blueberry Almond Smoothie

  • 3/4 cup dairy milk or youghurt
  • 1 small banana
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blackberries or bleuberries
  • 2 tbs almond butter or cashew butter
  • 1 scoop freeze-dried green supplement powder

Homemade granola is so much tastier then the one you buy, and it’s really easy to make! You just have to remember that you are making it (and don’t go upstairs to watch a movie so loud you can’t hear your timer…. not that I did… but it could happen!)


And this is how you make your own granola….

You need (or just take what you like!):

  • 5 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup coconut chips or flakes
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1/3 cup unsalted sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup  maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  1. Preheat oven to 275°F.
  2. Combine oats, coconut, almonds, pecans, brown sugar, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds in a large bowl. Combine syrup, water and oil in a medium bowl or large measuring cup and pour over the oat mixture; stir until well combined. Spread the mixture into a large (12-by-15-inch) roasting pan or large rimmed baking sheet
  3. Bake for 45 minutes. Remove from the oven, stir, and continue baking until golden brown and beginning to crisp, about 45 minutes more. Stir in cranberries and raisins. Let cool completely before storing.
